OFX Direct Connect was a somewhat open protocol widely used in the USA and a few other countries. It was also completely insecure, using a simple userid/password authentication and no encryption. Most if not all of the banks that provided it had stopped doing so by 2024. While AqBanking still supports it, there's little point in trying. What's more, the AqBanking OFX setup provides an automated setup facility that tries to use a website called ofxhome.com that no longer exists so it will hang if you try to use it.
