Talk:Non Interest Bearing Loans

In building this page I am attempting to extract/abstract the essential accounting transactions required from alternative loan types where traditional cultural and/or religious practices make interest bearing loans either undesirable or illegal. I am deliberately not seeking to illustrate a particular practice within a particular cultural or religious tradition. Where possible I will try to reference appropriate sources in those cultural traditions but neither do I claim completeness in coverage of all possible traditions and would welcome any contributors who are able to expand where appropriate the coverage and references.

A second objective is not to create proscriptive examples but to illustrate general principles in recording such loans in an illustrative manner. Actual practice such as naming of accounts and terminology will of course be different in the different cultural and religious traditions and even in accepted international accounting practices.
